Evaluating Training: Tradition and Innovation

Most Learning Professionals understand the importance of evaluating the success of the training solutions we design and deliver. So why do we often go no further than collecting simple “smile sheets”? In these challenging times, it’s critical for us to prove that our training interventions achieve the desired results – and that our efforts provide real and measurable value to our learners and our organizations.

In this workshop, we’ll start by taking a quick look at the traditional approach based on Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluation, and at the limitations of this approach. Next, we’ll introduce a different way to measure the value of learning – the innovative Success Case Method. Our Presenters: Cheryl Brogan and Peggy Page: Cheryl Brogan is a Learning Program Manager at Hewlett-Packard, where she is responsible for the design/development of learning solutions for HP’s Outsourcing business. Her training development teams have won two national ASTD awards. Cheryl has a Master of Education in Human Resource Education from Boston University. Peggy Page manages the design and development team at TD Banknorth and has a Masters in Adult Learning from the University of Southern Maine.
